Sunset ride in the Judean Desert – Mar Saba, Hyrcania Fortress, and exploring new singletrack

Sometimes the stars align and you experience a magic ride that makes you so happy you decided to mountain bike. Raphael and I started on the double track descent through either Arab Villages and passed the beautiful Mar Saba Monastery - continuously operating for about 1500 years. This is a pretty exposed ride and at the bottom of the valley is the Kidron River. We were originally planning to hook up with the Sugar Trail after the Mar Saba trail, but improvised a route since we were running low on sunlight and I had a flight back to the U.S. to catch at midnight. We descended through through the Judean Desert and found a new (to us) singletrack passing the Hyrania Fortress! I loved this ride and it was pure magic.
